Paperling is a local Markdown editor. That describes where you write and save; it does not mean every feature is unable to use the network.

Your documents

Reading and editing local Markdown files work offline. Paperling does not require an account or provide a hosted note-sync service. You choose the folders, backups, and external storage tools you use.

Optional AI

If you configure a remote AI endpoint, that provider receives the document context and prompts you send. Its data practices and charges apply. A compatible local model server is another option, with its own setup requirements. Keep credentials private and avoid including them in bug reports.

Other network activity

Update checks and downloads connect to the release service. Remote images or other online content referenced by a document may contact their host. Following external links opens the destination site under its own privacy practices.

This website

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. It does not add advertising trackers or an analytics script. Fonts and artwork are served with the site. GitHub can process request information as the hosting provider; see its privacy statement .

Paperling is open source. You can inspect the repository or report a problem. Remove private notes, tokens, and API keys before posting publicly.
