How it is built
The interface is a SolidJS app in a Tauri window. Everything heavy runs natively in Rust:
vuoom-capture | Windows Graphics Capture, any monitor |
vuoom-audio | Microphone and system sound (WASAPI), edit-aware mixer |
vuoom-input | Clicks and keys, timestamped, only while recording |
vuoom-zoom | Auto-zoom planner and the spring camera |
vuoom-render | wgpu compositor: zoom, text, shapes, overlays |
vuoom-encode | GIF encoding and size estimates |
vuoom-captions | whisper.cpp speech to text |
vuoom-project | The .vuoom project model, with undo |
MP4 goes through Windows Media Foundation. The same render(t) path draws the preview and the export, so what you see is what you ship.
Build it
pnpm install
pnpm tauri dev # run locally
pnpm tauri build # make installersOnly working on the interface? It runs in a plain browser with a mock engine, no Rust needed:
pnpm dev # then open the local URL with ?mock=1&demo=1Contribute
- Report a bug with your Windows version and steps.
- Share an idea in Discussions.
- Read CONTRIBUTING.md, then open a pull request.
- Star the repository. It helps people find Vuoom.
Releases
GitHub Actions checks every change (type check, lint, clippy, tests) and builds the installers. Published releases reach users through the signed in-app updater.
